Promoting art and culture through design – Victoria Art Gallery
We worked with the team to design a suite of marketing materials for their Peter Brown and New English Art Club exhibitions, as well as the annual refresh of their overarching promotional leaflet.
Drawing in the crowds
Our team developed designs that were cohesive and aligned with Victoria Art Gallery’s branding whilst drawing attention to the works themselves.
The designs aimed to draw in both new and returning visitors. We therefore needed to highlight the artists’ work for an art-knowledgeable audience and attract those who didn’t necessarily know the artists already.
Target audiences included:
- Arts engaged
- Visitors to Bath and Bristol
- Bristol residents
- Bath residents and repeat visitors
Peter Brown and New English Art Club
The team developed options that highlighted pieces of artwork across contemporary, classic and more artistic options.
We then rolled out the agreed design across exhibition posters, magazine adverts, exhibition graphics and signage for the gallery itself.
Exhibition posters were displayed in gallery and print ads using the design were placed in Art Quarterly, Bristol Life, Bath Life, RA Winter Magazine and Big Issue.
The 16-page leaflet is a fundamental promotional tool for the gallery, in two ways:
- To promote Victoria Art Gallery as a visitor attraction
- To encourage repeat visits by detailing the 2023 exhibitions
The design featured the bright pink of the Victoria Art Gallery branding and used the vibrant quilt design, as part of the Kaffe Fassett New Quilts exhibition.
There are 45,000 copies of the Victoria Art Gallery leaflet in circulation today.

At all times, the team were professional, helpful and proactive, marking up proofs for clarity. We had some last-minute changes on some images and copy, however, the creative team was able to work on these quickly and flexibly.”
